Toddler-friendly Tie Die Shirts

Christine from sisbrodesigns on Etsy has graciously shared an adorable diy craft with her two little girls.    Thanks for sharing, Christine !   Take it away!  (Check back for an awesome give away from her Etsy store! )

I’ve always wanted to experiment with tie die crafts with my kids but I was always worried about the toxic effect from the chemicals.  Last year, I found a tutorial on Pinterest on how to use Acrylic paint on cotton fabric to make imprinted flower shapes. I decided to apply some of the same instructions and try it as a tie die activity. Although it worked, I should let you know that the colors are not as vibrant as tie die but my kids were proud of the T-shirts they made.
Supplies needed:
  • Acrylic paint
  • Plastic bowls
  • Water
  • T- shirts
  • Paint brushes
  1. Choose your paint colors
  2. Mix equal amount of  paint and water in a plastic bowl.
  3. Wet the t shirts you will be using (make sure they stay damp the whole time you are painting.
  4. If it starts drying up, spray some water on it.
  5. When the kids are done painting, hang it on your clothesline to let it dry.
  6. Once dry, wash it in washing machine to lock in the designs.  Voila!
